CHIME Loan Program
Area 3 has two 3-octave sets of handchimes to loan to schools, churches and other community organizations without a current bell program. Handbell Musicians of America membership is not necessary to qualify to be a recipient of the CHIME loan program; with the CHIME loan, the recipient program contact will also receive a 1 year membership in Handbell Musicians of America. The Area will provide, in addition to the three octaves of chimes, music, technique manuals, curriculum suggestions, and all the support needed to start a program.
Handchimes provide music educators with a hands-on approach to teaching not only music reading skills and musical concepts, but also hand-eye coordination, gross and fine motor skills, and the importance of team work. These are just a few of the potential uses for chimes in a general music program.
Both Area 3 chime sets are currently awarded for the 2013-2014 school year.
