Introduction
The American Guild of English Handbell Ringers (AGEHR), Inc. is a
non-profit organization established in 1954 to promote the art of
English Handbell Ringing. The AGEHR strives for musical excellence
through: national and area events; publications; the exchanges of ideas
related to techniques of ringing, composing, and arranging music,
conducting, and other timely information. National events are held to
bring together ringers and directors from all over the world, while area
events permit a more limited geographical participation. These events
are a prime source of new ideas for both ringers and directors, thereby
"uniting people through a musical art."
The AGEHR is organized into twelve geographical areas. Area III is
comprised of the states of Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and North
Carolina and also includes the Metropolitan Washington area.
If you are new to handbells, or new to Area III, please take the time
and read about our About Area III Events. You will find the information
to be useful! Also, you will want to check out about the services that
Area III provides.

Vision
Note: The following vision for AGEHR was developed
and adopted at the November 1996 meeting of the AGEHR National Board.
We are people united by a musical art. We share a single passion: the
love of music expressed through handbells and handchimes. As the
national organization devoted to this medium, we articulate our vision
for the future.
Our greatest asset is our membership. It is one which reflects the
diversity of contemporary society. We will listen and respond to the
needs of this membership, and pledge to act as responsible stewards of
the gifts and resources placed in our care.
We place the utmost value on the role of education at all levels of
our organization. Our educational experiences are inclusive: for all
ages, backgrounds and interests.
As the principle voice for our artistic medium, we continually review
and define musical standards.
We seek partnerships with colleagues who support our ideals.
