Historian
Missy Cernigliaro
|
Missy began playing bells 15 years ago and has dedicated much of that time to playing, directing, and teaching the art of English Handbell ringing to ringers of all ages. While attending Colonial Baptist Church in Virginia she directed 3 handbell choirs, Middle school, Sr high school and adults.
While ringing and directing at Colonial, she has toured both nationally and internationally with her adult and teen choirs, traveling to Kiev, London and the North Eastern United States.
Apart from her involvement in handbells in a worship context, Missy has served AGEHR as Tidewater Local Liaison, Chime Liaison as well as Historian for Area III.
Missy currently plays with the Virginia Handbell Consort where she serves on the board and writes for the newsletter. She also rings with the Monumental Ringers of Monumental United Methodist Church.
In her “non-bell” life Missy teaches music at Oak Grove Preschool in Chesapeake, as well as finishing her music education degree at Regent University in Virginia Beach, where she looks forward to being able to follow her primary passion of teaching music and handbells to teens.
