The AGEHR National Seminar in Dallas

4 full days of learning, ringing, fellowship, concerts, shopping and inspiration!!

Twenty Area III members attended the 2007 National Seminar in Dallas for directors and ringers. The Wednesday through Saturday event offered non-stop classes in an abundance of topics, ringing and directing tracks, concerts, banquets, networking, reading sessions, shopping with vendors, publishers
and bell manufacturers.….and, in this case, a free work-out evacuating the 20 floor hotel for a fire alarm at 1:30 in the morning. About 400 registrants and faculty enjoyed 4 dynamically different handbell concerts throughout the event, each which reflected the particular personality of the director and mission of the group. Kath Wissinger, Area III Board member, was on the faculty and also directed one of the Pinnacle Event pieces. Debbie Rice, Area III Member and President of AGEHR also was on the faculty.

Plan to attend in 2008!! Next year's AGEHR National Seminar (Aug. 8-12, 2008) will overlap with the International Symposium (Aug. 4-8, 2008) and AGEHR Distinctly Teen (Aug. 6-8, 2008) at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort Orlando, Florida U.S.A. The Seminar will open with the closing concert of the Symposium -
with a reception afterwards for all!!

Report on SEE at Villanova, PA

Villanova was host to the first East-coast SEE event (Solo and Ensemble Extravaganza) July 22-29.

Lead by Michael Kastner and Kevin McChesney, nearly 1/4 of the registrants were from Area III! Everyone had outstanding opportunities to work with leading solo and ensemble instructors, have individual and group master classes, and attend many class selections and ensemble experiences. Each day we were treated to outstanding concerts with an amazing mix of solo and ensemble presentations, to include an amazing concert by the "Dream Team" -a quartet of exceptional ringers from the US and Canada who came together at this event and rang an entire concert from memory (as did almost all of the performers)! Soloists were Christine Anderson, Michele Sharik, PL Grove, Michael Kastner, Sue Garton and Danny Lyons, and duet teams Heather and David Keith from Canada, Michele Sharik and Joel Gingrich from CA, and Ron Bellamy and Bobbi Schmid from PA filled out the compliment of performers/instructors. This exceptional solo/ensemble event is part of S.T.E.P, based in Colorado.

Upcoming Area III Events

Plan ahead now to attend an event or two this coming year. Attend alone to refresh your ringing or directing, attend with a choir to enhance the group’s fellowship and skills. Festivals offer “Ringing only” or “Classes only” options. Contact the Coordinator for more information.
